As a school counselor during the pandemic, I quickly learned to adapt to an online approach with students and I use those skills in my practice as a mental health counselor. 🔸In sessions therapy participants set up their indoor hoop, show me a new skateboard trick, play the ukulele and yes, we may even build forts. They will likely ask me not to sing as I’m usually quite out of tune but bring on those corny jokes or help me create a story as we weave skills and understanding throughout our therapy activities. 🔸In working with teens they might share paintings, poems or highlights of a recent soccer match.
